ABOUT

John is a highly driven Strength & Conditioning Coach with an MSc and nearly three years of experience coaching hundreds of youth athletes across a wide range of sports at Physical Performance Academy.

His coaching experience spans football, boxing, swimming, basketball and other sporting environments, giving him a broad understanding of the different physical demands placed on young athletes.

Before joining Physical Performance Academy, John gained valuable experience working within high-performance environments including the Derbyshire Institute of Sport, Sheffield Hallam University and Team Derby. During these roles, he worked with athletes of varying ages and abilities, supporting performance development, rehabilitation, conditioning and long-term athletic development.

John has experience designing and delivering both individual and group-based programmes, including developing performance programmes, supporting injured athletes through structured rehabilitation phases, monitoring athlete wellbeing and adapting training according to an athlete's needs and stage of development.

His coaching philosophy is built around developing strong movement foundations before chasing performance outcomes. John believes young athletes should first learn to move well, develop fundamental physical qualities and build the robustness required to handle the demands of training and competition.

Rather than simply making athletes work harder, John focuses on technical proficiency, progressive development and research-informed coaching to help athletes become stronger, more powerful, more resilient and better prepared for their sport.

At Physical Performance Academy, John works with young athletes from a variety of sporting backgrounds, helping them develop the physical qualities that can support both their current performance and their long-term athletic development.

John's commitment to learning and development ensures he continues to challenge his coaching approach and bring new ideas and knowledge into his work with athletes.

Outside of coaching, John enjoys golf and weightlifting, while much of his time is dedicated to continuing his education and developing his skills as a Strength & Conditioning Coach.

John's goal is simple: to help young athletes build the physical foundations, confidence and physical preparation they need to fulfil their potential in sport.
